10 Reasons Why Gay Marriage is Wrong (taken from Grant) [02 Oct 2005|05:09pm]

10 Reasons Why Gay Marriage is Wrong

01) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

02) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

03) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

04) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

05) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were
allowed; the sanctity of Brittany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

06) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

07) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

08) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

09) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans

Hey dudes--

SOme people met at Carribou today after school--

It was full of rubbing things on your body at Micheals, skipping and frolicing in beautifully hard rain, humping Timmy (well only Kassi), and getting toasty by the fire. Marvelous.

I guess there will be a meeting the Wednesday we get back from break.-HxC!!

According to CNN's watch on the news, 10 out of 11 have (by amazingly large margins) voted to ban gay marriage. DAMNIT!

Okay...we've gotta do somethin. Other than that, Sam says hello. He might show up tomorrow! So...GO KERRY! *cheers*

Time to go back to my faithful watching of CNN's numbers.

-For all who are going: we will be meeting for the AIDS walk on 10th street ate marta station at 11 A.M. (sunday Oct. 17th)

-The National Day of Silence is April 21st. Obviously that day we will not be speaking... also try to dress in a solid color (preferably black). We will be protesting the silencing of GLBT students. Go to www.dayofsilence.org for the website.
**EDIT** We will have to speak on some occasions.  For instance, you must respond to the teacher when talked to.  We will need to come up with certain rules for the day of silence so that Mr. Duncan (or any other of the administration) will agree.  If the teacher chooses to allow your silence great, but don't expect them to.
We will need a list of set rules sometime by Feb.

-Our express yourself campaign will most likely be donating to Youth Pride.
Come up with ideas for buttons. (Bands, shows, etc. will probobly not work because all that fun legal stuff)

-Political Cartoon for Speculator? come up with ideas for Next weeks meeting.

-Happy Birthday to Tim!

Next meeting will be Wed. (as always) the 20th of Oct.
